International News: Authorities in Panama seize record number of drugs for a second consecutive year

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Authorities in Panama say that a record number of drugs was seized for the year 2022, Reuters reported.

The country continues to struggle with drugs being transported en route to the United States and Europe.

Officials seized 126.5 tons of drugs, mostly cocaine, setting a record for the second consecutive year.

Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino said that Panama is a transit country, and the officials do “containment operations”.

Twenty-three tons of the drugs were found in containers on the Atlantic coast destined for the United States and Europe.
