Man recently released from prison charged with possession of pipe for smoking drugs; Pleads not to be sent back

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 49-year-old Belize City resident, recently released from prison appeared in court again this week for possession of a pipe for smoking drugs.

Anthony Humes appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and immediately pleaded guilty to possession of a utensil used for smoking drugs.

The Magistrate told Humes that he has two previous convictions for the same offense and just served a three-month sentence for one of those convictions. Humes pleaded not to be sent back to prison, and the Magistrate decided to fine him instead.

The court fined Humes $405 and gave him until April 28 to pay or he would face another three months in jail.
