Chunox fishermen charged with having undersized conch out on bail

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Three fishermen from Chunox Village, Corozal District, are out on bail after being charged for having undersized conch.

The trio, 24-year-old Isair Mendez and 22-year-old Arody Mendez, who are brothers, along with 21-year-old Edrey Patt, were jointly charged in connection with 31 market clean partially processed conch each of which did not exceed three ounces in weight.

They all pleaded not guilty to the offense and were granted bail in the sum of $2,000 each plus one surety of the same. They are due back in court on March 16.

Authorities made the bust on December 13, 2022. The men were found on board the vessel “El Maesteo”, which was docked Southeast of Long Caye within the lighthouse Reef Atoll.
