By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Sunday, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake shook El Salvador, Telesur reports.
Salvador’s National Service for Territorial Studies reported that the tremor occurred at 5:07 p.m. with its epicenter in the municipality of San Lorenzo.
Several homes and businesses were damaged as a result.
Authorities said that shelters were set up for families as they continued to assess the damages.
The Ministry of Environment noted that more than 80 aftershocks were recorded.
The earthquake was also felt in parts of Guatemala.
