By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Digi Belize City Defenders now have a 2-0 record after beating the Belmopan Tigaz by 11 points, 91-80, at the University of Belize Gymnasium on Saturday night in the second week of action in the Belize Elite Basketball League.
Nigel Jones was scorching hot, nailing 25 points, pulling 12 rebounds, and making five assists and a steal. Devin Daly wasn’t bad himself, commanding 21 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Treandus Branch got 17 points, 11 boards, while Mykeil Tzul chipped in 14 points, five assists and two rebounds.
For the home-side Tigaz, Benjamin Page led with 18 points and seven rebounds plus four assists. Jevaughn McKenzie scored 17 points and pulled in four rebounds. Brandon Flowers powered 14 points and 16 rebounds along with three blocks. While Jeremiah Toney contributed 14 points with eight rebounds, and three assists. Kerwin Palacio was good for eight points and nine rebounds.
The Bandits are now 0-1 having not played on opening week.
