Sandhill man fined for public drinking

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 56-year-old man from Sandhill Village was fined in court this week for drinking rum in public.

Antonio Cal appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday answering to a single charge of public drinking for consuming white rum in front of Ga’s Supermarket in Sandhill.

Cal, who said he is a retiree with no job or income, immediately pleaded guilty to the offense.

He was fined $25 plus $5 cost of court for the offense which he must pay by March 10 or he will spend two weeks in jail for default.
