“Spanish Lookout resident who died in traffic accident on Iguana Creek Road lost control of motorcycle,” police say

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have released details regarding the investigation into a fatal traffic accident on the Iguana Creek Road yesterday that claimed the life of 36-year-old Spanish Lookout resident Jacob Giesbrecht.

Police say that around 12:45 p.m. Giesbrecht and another man riding a separate motorcycle were weaving through traffic near the Iguana Creek bridge, when he overtook a vehicle and lost control, colliding headfirst into a pickup truck headed in the opposite direction.

The truck was being driven at the time by 21-year-old Brian Mendoza.

Giesbrecht sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the San Ignacio Community Hospital, and his body was later taken to the Western Regional Hospital pending a post mortem examination.
