International News: Taiwan’s Defense officials threaten to shoot down any Chinese balloons

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Amidst heightened vigilance following recent incidents of the U.S. shooting down objects in U.S. airspace, Taiwan’s officials have said that they will shoot down any suspected Chinese spy balloons, the Associated Press reports.

Today, Taiwan’s Defense Ministry noted that any suspected military object coming close to its shores from mainland China would be shot down.

Maj. Gen. Huang Wen-chi said that Taiwan is being vigilant for any incursions.

China, which claims the self-governing island, has repeatedly sent fighter jets and other military assets near Taiwan.
