Police identify suspect in rape and robbery in the south

By Aaron Humes: Police say a woman from Bella Vista, Toledo District reported being robbed and sexually assaulted on February 15.

The woman, 45, had been sleeping when she was awakened by someone lying on top of her. The culprit fled with her cell phone, money and bicycle.

According to ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director of the Belize Police Department, it was confirmed that the woman was sexually assaulted; she was able to identify the suspect to police in an interview.

Based on that, police detained one person as the suspected perpetrator and are close to charging him.
