By Breaking Belize News Staff: Hattieville resident JayZee Williams has been sentenced to a year in prison after being convicted of having an unlicensed firearm.
Williams received his sentence on Monday, having been convicted on Friday, February 17.
Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson took into consideration Williams’ age (he was 18 years old at the time of the incident) and the fact that he was a first-offender when deciding his sentence, but also noted the severity of the offense.
On January 26, Williams sat beside a police officer on a passenger bus while in possession of a .44 revolver, which is a prohibited firearm.
He tried to abandon the weapon and flee the scene but was apprehended.
