By Breaking Belize News Staff: Ex-Belize Defense Force (BDF) volunteer 28-year-old Kareem Beeks will stand trial in the High Court of Belize for the October 2021 murder of 25-year-old Jeovanni Augustine.

Beeks had his preliminary inquiry in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford, after considering the evidence presented by the prosecution, determined that he had a case to answer to.

His trial is set to commence on June 12.

Augustine was fatally shot on Curassow Street, Belize City, on October 16, 2021, after attending a funeral for his sister-in-law.

Beeks was arrested and charged with murder a week later.
