By Aaron Humes: Belize’s national university and its National Bank are set to cooperate in areas of financial education and business opportunities.
A memorandum of understanding was signed in Belmopan today by University President Dr Vincent Palacio and General Manager of the Bank, Alvaro Alamina.
The University has agreed, among other things, to partner with the Bank to conduct research, professional development training, conferences, and similar activities through UB’s Institute of Banking and Finance and establish accounts with the Bank to enable the use of its NBBPay E-Wallet on University campuses, as well as becoming a marketing partner of the Bank.
The Bank, meanwhile, undertakes to, among other things, work towards the development and establishment of an education loan program with specifically customized package(s) for UB Students; establish a physical presence on the main campus in Belmopan; offer internships to UB students; participate in University events and agree on preferential rates for bank transfers, merchant fees for its e-wallet program and other service fees.
