Two weeks more for Belize Men’s National Team to tackle Guatemala in the Concacaf Nations League B

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The much-awaited match against Guatemala in the Concacaf Nations League B Championship is just two weeks away.

In the meantime, the Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) keeps undergoing their weekly rigorous training cycles at the FFB headquarters in Belmopan on Mondays and Tuesdays under the watchful eyes of head coach David Pérez.

Tickets are selling for $20.00.

Belize has two matches left, against Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, in the Concacaf League B championship intent on avoiding dropping to the Concacaf League C. The BMNT only earned one point from a draw, and three losses. French Guiana lead with ten points and are followed by Guatemala with seven and the Dominican Republic with four.

The BMNT are going for revenge as they lost 2-0 to Guatemala in Guatemala City on June 5, 2022.

While the BMNT can no longer qualify for the next round, the goal is not only to avoid dropping to League C but also to revamp the national squad. To that end Pérez has been calling several new players to the training sessions trying to see who fits into the mold. So, expect to see a different team face Guatemala at 8:00 pm at the FFB Stadium on Friday, March 24, and against the Dominican Republic on Monday, March 27 at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo.
