Cycling Federation of Belize releases official results of 22nd BEL Jr Cross Country Cycling Classic, Rolling Shattaz-BZ-Boyz’s Delton Rojas wins in 3:40:52

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Rolling Shattaz- BZ-Boyz’s Delton Rojas won the 71.6-mile 22nd Annual BEL Junior Cross Country Cycling Classic on Sunday in a dead-heat sprint with G-Flow’s Jaylen Briceño at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City. According to the official results released late on Monday evening by the Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB), both Rojas and Briceño were timed at three hours, 40 minutes, and 52 seconds (3:40:52) averaging 19.40 miles per hour for the race that started at 8:30 am on Sunday at Columbus Park in San Ignacio.

Rolling Shattaz Evrit Matute Jr edged G-Flow’s Benito Gutierrez for third place with both clocking 3:48:45. They trailed their front-two teammates by 7:53.

Independent rider Devantae Bennett rode in fifth, two seconds later in 3:48:47. One second behind him, Rolling Shattaz-BZ Boyz’s Ivan Usher and Team Cayo’s Richard Rosado clocked 3:48:48 in sixth and seventh respectively.

Rolling Shattaz Tyler Tejeda (3:56:10), who finished third in 2022, was eighth this time around. G-Flow’s Jamar Murry was ninth with the same time.

The tenth-place rider was unattached Travis Grinage who won the Youth Category edging Guatemalan Kevin Rojas. Both were timed at 4:04:34, 23:42 behind Rojas.

18 of the record 30 riders who lined at the start finished the race. Two riders of the 12 who didn’t finish were disqualified.

Next, the Cycling Federation of Belize gears up for the Women’s Cross Country Cycling Classic on Sunday, April 2, and the Men’s Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic on April 8.
