CONCACAF confirms 13 teams for Gold Cup, including invited guests Qatar

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After the first round of the Concacaf Nations League, 12 clubs have qualified directly to the 2023 Concacaf Gold. Adding invited guests Qatar, that makes 13 places confirmed. The other three will be determined from a 12-team Gold Cup Prelims.

The 12 Concacaf countries qualified include the top two from each group in the Concacaf Nations League A and the winners of the CNL B groups.

These teams are Guatemala, winner of the group in which Belize played, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Cuba, Haiti, Canada, Costa Rica, Honduras, United States, Mexico, El Salvador, Jamaica, and Panama.

The other three will be decided from 12 other teams which comprise the four third-place teams from League A, the four second-place teams from League B, and the four first-place teams from League C.

The 17th Concacaf Gold will be played between June 16 – July 16, in the United States. The official draw will be held on April 14, 2023, at SoFi Stadium, in Inglewood, California.

Belize missed out on the opportunity finishing last in League B’s Group D. Our only participation was in 2013.
