International News: Honduran President plans visit to China

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Wednesday, the Honduran Foreign Ministry noted that Honduras President, Xiomara Castro plans to travel to China “soon”, Reuters report.

Honduras and China recently established diplomatic relations, after the Central American nation broke 82 years of friendship with Taiwan.

Last week, the Honduran Foreign Minister visited China, just days after President Castro made the announcement.

China has since responded saying that it welcomes the visit “as soon as possible” to establish bilateral relations.

Taiwan now has 13 diplomatic allies including Belize.
