Belize City man charged for having homemade firearm remanded to prison

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City mechanic has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after allegedly being caught with a homemade firearm.

Twenty-four-year-old Francisco Torres appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with a single count of kept prohibited firearm, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Due to the nature of the offense, bail could not be granted at the Magistrate level and he was remanded until July 5.

Police say they caught him with the weapon on Friday, March 31, in Belize City.
