Lithuania donates COVID-19 vaccines to Belize

Posted: Tuesday, April 4, 2023. 8:20 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Government of Belize on Tuesday officially received a donation of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines for children (12 years and older) from the people and Government of Lithuania.

The donation came into the country last week and was handed over to Minister of Health and Wellness Kevin Bernard by Carlos Perera, Honorary Consul of Lithuania, today.

“The ministry extends appreciation for the vaccines as officials continue to monitor and respond to COVID-19,” the MOHW said.

“The ministry reminds the public that getting vaccinated against COVID-19 reduces the risks of developing complications and hospitalization if contracted. The ministry also advises citizens to take a booster if they are eligible to do so and to stay safe during the upcoming Easter weekend.”

The Ministry Health and Wellness (MOHW) advised Belizeans to visit the nearest health center for more information on the availability of vaccines.

While most people are no longer wearing masks, cases of COVID-19 are still being reported to the MOHW by the Government and private hospitals.
