By Rubén Morales Iglesias: On Monday, the Ministry of Blue Economy and civil Aviation’s (MBECA) Chief Executive Office Kennedy Carrillo met with manatee conservationist Jamal Galvez to discuss plans for Belize’s first-ever marine animals rescue and rehabilitation center.

According to MBECA, Carrillo and Fisheries Administrator Rigoberto Quintana met Galvez and Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute CEO Joe Handy CEO and Executive Director Dr. James Powell. They talked about the marine animals rescue and rehabilitation center planned for the South of Belize.

“The Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation under the Fisheries Resources Act has the legal mandate to safeguard important aquatic animals such as manatees, sea turtles among many others,” MBECA said.

“The Ministry remains committed to working with conservationists such as Jamal who’s passion and dedication fuels our work as a Ministry.”
