By Aaron Humes: Albert area representative Tracey Taegar-Panton turns 54 today.

The United Democratic Party (UDP) sent birthday wishes by social media and this afternoon, she responded to say she was “entirely grateful.”

She continued, “My [heart] is full and I feel entirely blessed. Sending my best wishes to ALL those celebrating birthdays today too. Love and Appreciate You. May you continue to walk in God’s favor and keep your hearts open to His abundant blessings as we begin another orbit around the sun.”

Panton is a former Minister of State in the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Commerce under Prime Minister Dean Barrow and previously served as CEO of the Ministry of Tourism and Director of the Belize Tourism Board (BTB). She entered politics in 2015 as a candidate in the Albert Division and was elected, then re-elected in 2020 for her second and current term in office.

In 2022 she ran to be Leader of the UDP, narrowly losing to Moses “Shyne” Barrow by three votes. In the midst of that campaign, she lost her husband Herbert Panton, with whom she shares two daughters.
