By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Guatemalan woman who entered Belize illegally last year is to be deported after a removal order was granted against her by the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.
Twenty-year-old Iris Marisol Duran Ovalle pleaded guilty to the immigration offense of illegal entrance and was deemed as a prohibited immigrant. She was stopped at an immigration checkpoint at the Burrell Boom/Philip Goldson Highway intersection on April 13 and could not produce any documents to show that she was in the country legally.
She was fined $1,000 plus a $5.00 cost of court which he has to pay or spend six months in jail for defaulting. Once she has settled her fine, she will be sent back to Guatemala.
