Government warns that anyone caught still selling lotteries will be prosecuted

Posted: Monday, May 15, 2023. 9:23 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Since the cancellation of Brad’s gaming license, Belizeans have been living without the generationally popular Boledo for several weeks. In the aftermath of the fall of Boledo, the Government of Belize has issued a warning to those who continue to sell lotteries without a license.

A public notice issued by the Lotteries Committee earlier reminded all agents and sub-agents of government lotteries (Boledo, Jackpot, and Ordinary lotteries) that Brad’s Gaming Group Limited’s (BGGL) exclusive license to administer the Government Lotteries has been revoked effective May 2, 2023, and as such, they also cannot continue with the sale of any government lottery.

“Anyone caught promoting or selling any government lottery from this date onward without a valid license will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” the Lotteries Committee said.

The Committee went on to say that the public will be advised when the Government Lotteries will resume normal activity.
