Popular football player Woodrow West detained by Police in Imari Galvez murder investigation

By Aaron Humes: Latest reports tonight are that Woodrow West, former National Team and semi-professional football player, was apparently detained by Orange Walk Town Police while playing a game at the People’s Stadium.

West has been named as one of the last persons to see 19-year-old Imari Galvez of Belmopan alive before her body was found off the Hummingbird Highway on Tuesday evening. She had last been seen alive early in the hours of Sunday morning.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams told LOVE FM that West is one of several persons whom he believes “can shed some light” into what happened to Galvez but he declined to address “rumours” concerning the relationship between the two.

The Commissioner said that police information is that Galvez had last been seen at a popular nightclub in town before leaving early on Sunday and they are reviewing relevant camera footage.

One other person has already been detained in connection with the investigation and another is being sought as “no stones are being left unturned” in the investigation, according to the Commissioner.
