By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Officials in the United States are warning all Americans against crossing the border to Mexico to conduct surgeries following suspected cases of fungal meningitis, one of those patients died.
The Associated Press reports that 5 patients who travelled to Matamoros, Mexico for surgical procedures became ill and 4 are hospitalized.
U.S. officials say all patients are from 30 to 50 years old.
In addition, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a travel advisory for those seeking medical care in Matamoros.
