By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Hol Chan Marine Reserve held its 16th annual Primary School Trivia Competition as part of its annual reef fest activities.
Two students from each primary school in San Pedro Town and Caye Caulker Village were invited to participate in the competition.
During the competition, students tested their knowledge on topics such as marine reserves in Belize, Coral reef, mangrove and seagrass ecosystems, Belize Fisheries Regulations, climate change and more.
At the end of the 3 rounds and a tie breaker section, Christian Anderson of Ambergris Caye Elementary took 3rd place, Justin Quiroz of San Pedro R.C School took 2nd place and Devin Cartagena of Holy Cross Anglican School took 1st place.
Anderson received a chromebook laptop and an award.
Quiroz received a chromebook laptop, $250 cash courtesy of E&E security services and an award.
Cartagena received a chromebook laptop, a printer, a 1 year tuition assistance for highschool valued at $1000 and an award.
“We thank all participants for their bravery and enthusiasm in participating in the Primary School Trivia Competition. We also thank all the teachers and parents who assisted each participant in preparing for the competition,” Hol Chan Marine Reserve noted.
Hol Chan also extended gratitude to all sponsors for contributing to the competition.
