Belize Hurricanes-Griga Dream Ballers face each other in Game One of the BEBL semifinals Friday night at the Civic

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The second-seeded Benny’s Belize Hurricanes couldn’t start their playoff series against the third-seeded Griga Dream Ballers last weekend because their home facility, the Belize City Civic Center, was unavailable. So, they had to wait a full week.

Now, everything is set for that series to get underway tonight at 9:00 pm

The Dream Ballers are banking on the likes of Delvon Henderson, Edgar Mitchell, D’von Campbell, and Daniel Conorquie to lead them to the promised land against Victor Evans, Kris, Frazier, Glency Lopez, Jamell Harris, Kirk Smith Jr, and Alex Carcamo.

The Civic will explode tonight, and so will the Angel Nuñez Auditorium in San Pedro on Saturday night.

Last Friday, the San Pedro Tiger Sharks stunned the number one seeded Orange Walk Running Rebels 77-73 at the Orange Walk Multi-Purpose Complex in Game 1 of their series.

Led by Francis Arana 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists and five steals and Jihad Wright adding 18 points, five boards, two assists, two steals and three blocks, the Tiger Sharks are focused on repeating the performance at home. Jamaal Clifton contributed ten points, six rebounds while Kyle Steward added 11 rebounds coupled with six points. They are hoping to improve in that against the Orange Walk Running Rebels who are expecting Bryan Hudson to put up more than the 23 points he connected in Game 1. They will also hold Tyrone Hall to up his 14 points and Akeem Trapp his 13. They Running Rebels are also banking on Brian White to power up his five points and 11 boards to another dimension, but primarily, they’ll be depending on James Stanback to deliver far more than the three points and eight rebounds from the first confrontation, if they mean to break the Tiger Sharks and take the series back to Orange Walk.

That game is also set for 9:00 pm.
