International News: 8 people died in heatwave in Mexico

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Mexico’s Health Ministry says that 8 people have died in the 3^rd heatwave to hit Mexico since mid-April, the Associated French Press reports.

In Mexico City, temperatures soared to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

Seven people died of heatstroke and one of dehydration between April 14 and June 12, the ministry said.

In Monterrey, the heatwave caused a reduction in water pressure, and an increased demand for electricity including air conditioning which led to power cuts.

In Nuevo Leon, authorities limited the time children attend school to two hours a day to avoid sun.
