Roaring Creek man charged for allegedly scamming people on Facebook

Posted: Monday, June 26, 2023. 8:00 am CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Roaring Creek resident is out on bail after being charged with obtaining property by deception.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jason Perez pleaded not guilty to the charge and granted bail in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same which he was able to meet.

Perez is due back in court on August 28.

Allegations against him are that in January he contacted Kareem King via Facebook messenger from an account in the identity of Kenrick Graham, a friend of Kings’s. King told police that the person he spoke to asked to borrow $270 so he deposited the money in an account that was given to him, but later when he asked Graham about the money, Graham said he had no knowledge of receiving such a loan.

King reported the matter to police and several months later, Perez was arrested and charged.
