Ministry of Health and Wellness, UNICEF Belize conduct field assessments on new vaccine app

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Last week, team members from the Maternal and Child Health Unit in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Inter-American Development Bank–Salud Mesoamerica Initiative and UNICEF Belize conducted field assessments on the introduction of a vaccination app.

The vaccination app will facilitate the recording of immunization data administered and generate necessary reports from the data captured.

The team visited Carmelita village in the Orange Walk district and the San Martin area of Belmopan.

Following the assessments, they shared observations and discussed strengths and challenges of the app before its official launch.

The vaccination app will be most useful in areas with limited or no access to the Belize Health Information System (BHIS), the Ministry noted.
