By Celeste Chang: The Belize Police Department and the Belize Coast Guard, are working together along with the Princess Hotel, to provide swimming classes for children.

50 youths from 10 different communities are participating in the program.

The goals of this project is to build a better relationship with the community. Organizers say it’s important for children to learn this important life skill. They also want children to see that police officers are not the bad guys.

The swimming classes will run for two weeks and participants will be learning basic swimming techniques.
