Belize secures bronze medal in Central American Men’s Volleyball Championship despite close loss to Nicaragua

By Aaron Humes: Belize lost its final match in four sets to Nicaragua 18-25, 25-14, 19-25, 30-32, but collect a bronze medal for their efforts at the Central American Men’s Volleyball Championship.

A poor start threatened our medal chances even after Guatemala beat Panama to secure gold and knock El Salvador down to silver. But absent a win, Belize needed to win at least one set to secure bronze and did so in the second set.

The rest of the game was close and involved some crucial calls rubbing each team the wrong way, but the team matched its most recent performance a few years ago and did themselves credit.
