15-year-old Nigel Ferguson found executed in abandoned lot on Hunters Lane

By Aaron Humes: Teenager Nigel Ferguson, 15, reported to have special needs, was found callously dumped and murdered late on Sunday night, in an abandoned lot on Hunters Lane.

According to Police Commissioner Chester Williams, Ferguson, who had left home on Handyside Street a few hours earlier, had sustained multiple stab wounds and reports say his throat was cut.

Williams added as to motive, “At this time, we are still trying to figure out what happened. We know that there may have been a fight earlier in the area, between him and some other persons who are yet to be identified and we are hoping that we will be able to get more information to ascertain what actually transpired in this particular instance.” He ruled out possible gang involvement “at this time.”

But Nigel’s mother has told reporters that her son had gotten into fights with rivals from other neighborhoods and she believes that he was getting into gang activity – so much so that she was trying to have him enrolled in the Mountain Pine Ridge Youth Challenge, an initiative spearheaded by the Department of Youth Services to assist at-risk youths. Sadly, those efforts never materialized – efforts that she said would have kept him alive.

Police investigations are underway.
