Lake Independence residents, including acquitted murder suspect, charged for unlicensed firearm and ammunition

By Aaron Humes: 25-year-old Elden Flowers of Oleander Street and Kareem Franklin of Flamboyant Street, Belize City, today appeared in court charged with keeping firearms and ammunition without a gun license.

The men were found on Sunday with a nine-millimeter Glock pistol and four live rounds of ammunition.

Both pleaded not guilty to the charges and due to the nature of the offenses, they were remanded to the Belize Central Prison until October 30.

Flowers was handed a nolle prosequi in a murder case in April after being charged for the November 2019 murder of Richard O’Neil, who was reportedly kidnapped and shot in an area along the Burrell Boom Road and left for dead.
