High Court Judge presiding over murder case has home broken into, nothing stolen

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Judge’s home was burglarised in the early hours of Monday morning in Lord’s Bank village.

According to reports, Nigel Pilgrim, 44, a Trinidadian judge serving on Belize’s High Court reported to police that he was sleeping in his two-story house when he heard a loud bang. He opened his door and saw a black male with bald head running down the stairs inside his home and through his back door before escaping.

Nothing was stolen. Despite the incident, Pilgrim showed up in court today where he was slated to preside over a murder trial of two men accused of killing Alarice Andrewin, Vidal Yuman and Maria Lucas at mile 10 on the George Price Highway in 2019.

Police visited Pilgrim’s home and found that the intruder cut through his burglar bars to gain entry into the house. Finger prints were also lifted from the scene. Pilgrim was also allegedly verbally threatened after he found the Paguada brothers, Delson and Tionne, guilty of the 2018 murder of Paul Jex.
