By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On September 21, 2023, Belizeans across the country joined in celebrating Belize’s 42nd anniversary of Independence.
In Belmopan, the Belize Bird Rescue and their green parrot joined the parade.
The organization was formed in 2006 and is a registered Non-Governmental Organization helping save and protect the wild birds of Belize and especially parrots.
Belize Bird Rescue reminds everyone that keeping a wild bird captive is illegal, and although Forest Department may issue a permit for a well-cared for parrot that has been in a family for a number of years, they do not encourage the practice as it is unfair on a wild bird to prevent them from Flying Free in our beautiful forests for all to enjoy.
If you come across any wild bird in trouble, please call/WhatsApp Belize Bird Rescue on 610 0400 and they will do everything they can to help that bird.
