Duo remanded for murder of David Philips

By Aaron Humes: 37-year-old Jerdene Jorgenson and 45-year-old Lloyd Burgess, both of Belize City, have been remanded to prison after being charged for the murder of David Anthony Philips, 43, on September 28.

Jorgenson and Burgess went before Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola where no plea was taken and bail was denied. They return to court on December 4.

Philips was found by a contractor’s worker behind an unfinished cement structure along the John Smith Link Road, with injuries believed to be consistent with blunt force trauma allegedly from a cement brick.

Police believe surveillance footage from the area positively identified those involved and the vehicle they allegedly used.

All three men are known to the Police but they would not confirm a clear motive as yet in the murder.
