Ex-employee accused of stealing from cop’s store room

By Aaron Humes: Construction worker Henry Cook, 41, of Apasote Street, Lords’ Bank, Belize District, has been charged with theft of various tools and items from a storeroom in the village.

Cook is accused of theft on October 16 of $723 worth of items belonging to police officer Lloyd Andrews, whom he used to work for.

In court, Pook admitted to stealing the double aluminum louver windows but nothing else, but he pleaded guilty.

The Senior Magistrate explained that she could not accept his guilty plea for only a portion of the stolen items and so Pook changed his guilty plea to not guilty.

Pook was offered and met bail of $1,000 and a surety, granted on condition that he is not to contact the virtual complainant or any members of his family; he is also not to be within 100 yards of the complainant; and he must report to the Ladyville Police Station every Friday of the week beginning tomorrow, October 20.

He returns to court on December 19.

According to Andrews, he identified Pook on his home surveillance camera after the break-in occurred when he was out buying food. He came home to find the storeroom door open.
