Prime Minister thanks Taiwan for generous donation toward renovation of National Assembly

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On December 4, 2023, the Government of Belize received from Taiwan a donation of US$792,125.30.

The funds will be used for renovations of the National Assembly Building in Belmopan.

“Taking care of our House of governance. We recognize our Speaker of the House Hon. Valerie Woods for her foresight and forward action securing the support of our bilateral partner Republic of China Taiwan,” the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister John Briceno joined Valerie Woods, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan); and Collet Montejo, Vice-President of the Senate at the official signing ceremony.
