Fire on Jane Usher Boulevard destroys house

By Aaron Humes: A family is without a home tonight following a fire on Jane Usher Boulevard in Belize City this afternoon.

According to Police, they observed a brown and red wooden structure elevated about 3 feet from the ground, measuring approximately 16 by 20 feet, engulfed in flames.

Initial investigation revealed that about 4:00 pm today Friday, Claudia Brown, a Nurse assistant departed from her residence and proceeded to work leaving her 11-year-old daughter at the home which was intact.

While she was at work, she received a call from her husband informing her that her house was on fire. The fire was extinguished by neighbors and later by Fire Service personnel. No one was injured in the fire.

The total cost of damages is unknown at this time. The building is not insured. An investigation is underway.
