Director of Public Prosecutions to decide potential charges for attorney suspected of rape

By Aaron Humes: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has said the Director of Public Prosecutions has the file in relation to a criminal complaint made by a woman alleging she was raped by a prominent Belize City attorney.

After a night out, the woman accuser and her friend met the attorney at a night club where they shared drinks. He offered to take them to his home for a “nightcap” drink and the accuser said she drank until she could not remember anything.

She woke up next to the accused nude and her friend confirmed she had had intercourse without her consent. A medical examination confirmed intercourse had taken place.

The attorney has been interviewed and the file compiled for the DPP to give feedback on potential charges.
