Two men remanded to prison for attempted murder of Eugene Thompson

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Victor Parham, 27; and Hubert Paquil, 30; both of Belama have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison in connection with the February 16 attempted murder of Eugene Thompson.

Parham and Paquil appeared unrepresented in court on Monday. Parham was charged with attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm, while Paquil was charged with abetment to murder.

No plea was taken due to the nature of the crime and both men were remanded to prison.

According to allegations, Paquil visited Thompson’s home on February 16 requesting $15 he was owed. Thompson reportedly did not pay right away and Paquil refused to leave. Thompson then came outside and as he stooped over his veranda to pay Paquil, Parham allegedly emerged from underneath the house and fired a shot at Thompson but he ran inside the house and escaped through a window.
