By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Under 20 Belize Men’s National Team (U20 BMNT) started off with a negative 6-0 loss to Nicaragua in Managua in their first game of Concacaf Under-20 Championship Qualifiers on Sunday.
The Concacaf U20 Championship consists of 27 countries in six groups – three of five countries each and three of four countries each. The U20 BMNT are playing in Group A in Nicaragua. The other groups are playing in Antigua and Barbuda, Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago, and St Kitts and Nevis.
On Friday, Cuba lashed Anguilla 13-0 while Nicaragua dispatched British Virgin Islands 8-0.
On Sunday, Cuba downed the British Virgin Islands 2-1.
Belize’s second game will be against British Virgin Islands on Tuesday, February 27 at 4:00 pm. Nicaragua will play Anguilla at 7:00 pm.
Belize’s third match will have our young men facing Cuba at 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 29. Anguilla will face British Virgin Islands at 4:00 pm.
The final match will be against Anguilla on Saturday, March 2 at 2:00 pm. Nicaragua will tackle Cuba at 7:00 pm.
The U20 BMNT returns on Sunday, March 3.
