By Rubén Morales Iglesias: EA Warriors will be defending the 2023 Belize Men’s National Volleyball Championship at the Countryside Park in Spanish Lookout from Friday to Sunday, March 1-3.

The EA Warriors won the 2023 championship 2-1 (23-25, 27-25, 15-13) over the HRCU Eagles at the SCA Mercy Center in Belize City. The Toledo Assassins finished third defeating the Orange Walk Sugar City Cobras 2-0 (25-14, 25-17).

The Warriors also won the 2022 Championship at the Mexico Center in Belize City defeating The 822 in three sets 25-22, 23-25, 15-9.

Prior to that they were named the SQ Dragons.

Twelve teams are competing this year; three more than last year. Thirty-three games will be played throughout the three days on two courts.

The EA Warriors play the opening match against Shockwave at 6:00 pm on Friday. The Toledo Assassins will face T-Sharp in the second game at 7:00 pm. The third game will feature the EA Warriors Jr and the University of Belize (UB).

The 12 teams are divided into three groups. Group A features the defending champions EA Warriors, Alpha Warriors, Rednex B, and Shockwave. Group B consists of the Toledo Assassins, SE Jaguars, SE Junior Jaguars, and T-Sharp. Group C will comprise EA Warriors Jr, Rednex, SQ Dragons, and UB.

The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.
