Manuel Ramos committed to stand trial for manslaughter by negligence in death of Joshua Martinez

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Manuel Ramos, 53, on Tuesday was committed to stand trial for manslaughter by negligence for the 2023 death of Joshua Martinez.

Ramos appeared in court on Tuesday for a preliminary inquiry into the matter against him. His trial is set to commence on June 12. Ramos had been out on bail since being charged in March 2023 and on Tuesday his old bail was revoked and he was granted a new bail of $5,000 plus two sureties of $2,500, which he was able to meet.

Ramos is charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, drove motor vehicle without due care and attention, drove motor vehicle with alcohol concentration above prescribed limit and one count of negligent harm.

The fatal traffic accident occurred in Ladyville on the Philip Goldson Highway, resulting in Martinez’s death and injuries to Tyrique Usher and David Griffith.
