Posted: Wednesday, April 10, 2024. 9:20 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On April 8, 2024, the Miss Universe Belize organization officially unveiled a signature Black Orchid themed crown to represent Belize’s national flower.

The Black Orchid Crown was created by Belizean Creative Inga Woods-Waight who is an engineering student, glass blower and STEM Advocate.

“Inga combines her passion for art and technology to create innovative pieces that inspire and educate. Through her work, she aims to bridge the gap between science and art, encouraging others to explore the intersections of creativity and technology,” the Miss Universe Belize organization explained.

This glass crown, adorned with delicate gold accents, draws inspiration from the captivating beauty of Belize’s national flower, the Black Orchid.

“Five intricately crafted black orchid-shaped flowers embellish the crown, reflecting the rich diversity and allure of Belize. The clear glass symbolizes clarity of purpose and vision, while the gold accents represent resilience and strength. This piece serves as a wearable art, embodying empowerment, grace, and the unique spirit of Belizean identity,” the organization added.

Ten beauty ambassadors from across the country will participate in the pageant aspiring to represent Belize on the world stage.

The beauty ambassadors will compete for the coveted crown this Saturday, April 13, 2024.
