One death reported in traffic accident in Crooked Tree

By Aaron Humes: There was a fatal collision early this morning in the village of Crooked Tree, Belize District.

A fisherman traveling on a motorcycle and a driver returning from a party and who was not far from home collided on a road in the Staine area.

The motorcyclist was flung about 100 feet away; he died of his injuries en route to hospital. The driver crashed into a lamppost; his condition is not known at this time.

Village residents say an accident of this magnitude was not unexpected considering general recklessness on the part of motorists in the area. The matter is under investigation.
