Belize City Defenders bomb Punta Gorda Panthers 105-60 in Belize Elite Basketball League

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize City Defenders ran over the Punta Gorda Panthers 105 to 60 at the Belize City Center on Friday night in the Belize Elite Basketball League (BEBL).

The Belize City Defenders had five players with double digits. Treandus Brunch was the leader with 28 points. Branch also tallied nine rebounds, one assist, one steal, and made a block. Nigel Jones scored 25 points, pulled 12 rebounds, made seven assists, three steals, and a block. Mykeil Tzul scored 14 points, made one rebound, three assists, and two steals. Travis Lennan totalled 13 points, two rebounds, and an assist. Lorenzo Dillard scored 11 points to go along with one rebound, three assists, and a steal.

The Punta Gorda Panthers’ main man was Delmore Centino who netted 13 points, and made 12 rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Chance Leslie scored 11 points, pulled 10 rebounds, made five assists, and also had a steal and a block. Luwani Cayetano added 10 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

The Defenders are now 7 and 4 while the Punta Gorda Panthers dropped to 1 and 10.

In the other Friday night game, the Orange Walk Running Rebels defeated the Belmopan Red Taigaz 99-63 in Belmopan.

The BEBL continues tonight at Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio where the Western Ballaz host the Benny’s Belize Hurricanes at 7:30 pm and at the San Pedro High School Auditorium where the San Pedro Tiger Sharks take on the Griga Dream Ballers at 9:00 pm.

The Griga Dream Ballers are 7-3, the Benny’s Belize Hurricanes are 7-2, the Western Ballaz 4-6, and the San Pedro Tiger Sharks are 4-4.
