By Zoila Palma: Mexico just announced that health regulator, Cofepris has authorized the emergency use of India’s COVID-19 vaccine COVAXIN.
The announcement was made by Mexico’s Foreign Minister, Marcelo Ebrard on Twitter.
The country has registered over 2.25 million cases of COVID-19 and over 204,000 deaths.
The number of confirmed cases and COVID-19 deaths continue to increase as the nation grapples with the pandemic.
Ebrard says that the authorization of the vaccine means that vaccination options against COVID-19 are expanding.
Meanwhile over 1.7 million people in Mexico have recovered from the virus.
According to data from Reuters, Mexico has already administered 9.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
