Police: ‘Brian Castillo still at large in Guatemala, son found’

Posted: Tuesday, November 23, 2021. 8:55 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Information to our newsroom is that 28-year-old Bryan Castillo, wanted for the murders of his common-law partner and her daughter on Sunday night, remains at large, most likely in Guatemala.

However, they have confirmed that his son, 7, whom he allegedly kidnapped after the double murder, has been found by Guatemalan Civil Police.

Police say the child has been returned to Belize but it is not clear in whose custody he is at present.

Castillo is accused of stabbing to death 33-year-old Jennifer Archila and 12-year-old Nitzia Catzim at their San Ignacio home Sunday night and fleeing with his son.

Police here were unable to bring him in after checking with family members and setting up a checkpoint on the Arenal Road.

We continue to follow this developing story.
