Jacob Leslie to be new president of Belize Basketball Federation

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Jacob Leslie is to be the new president of the Belize Basketball Federation (BBF). The Belize Basketball Federation was to have held elections for its Executive Body on Saturday, April 2, 2022, but called them off as only one slate was presented.

So, automatically, Leslie of the National Elite Basketball League’s (NEBL) Belize City Defenders and brother of Darwin ‘Puppy’ Leslie, becomes the new president.

Raul Rosado of the Orange Walk Running Rebels will be one of the two vice presidents.

On March 12, the BBF said in a press release that its Executive Committee members are elected to hold office for four years and that, “as a consequence, the due date for elections of new officers will be Saturday, April 2, 2022”.

The elections were delayed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The last elections were held on February 4, 2017, at the Sacred Heart College in San Ignacio.

The BBF has been led by president Paul Thompson, vice president Charles Ellis, secretary Julian Murillo, and committee members Frank Lord, Travis Lennen, and Keith Acosta.
